College Applications for Homeschooled Students

Whether you are going to college straight out of high school or you finally found the time to finish your degree, you want to make this thrilling adventure as convenient and comfortable as possible. Having certain office equipment at your disposal can make submitting assignments much easier, and can limit the time you spend in student centers or libraries using campus machines. If you have a printer handy for printing off assignments, you can save yourself the time of having to go down to campus student services to get the documents you need taken care of. Buy a wireless printer that you can hook up to your current Internet connection wherever you are, so if you are visiting home for the weekend or staying in a dorm room, you can always be ready to print straight from your laptop or computer. Choose a printer that can accept generic ink, as many models are designed to only accept ink straight from the manufacturer, which can be much more expensive than generic counterparts. You may not get as many printed pages with generic ink, but you can save a lot of money if you are printing or copying a lot of documents throughout your educational career.

Software

You will want to have spreadsheet software to keep track of assignments and to help organize your expenses and other tasks while in college. Other software you will want include a writing and presentation tool. You can often get a student discount on office software to help pay for pricey downloads, especially if they are required for your accounting, business, or language classes.

Office supplies

You never know how important a stapler or 3-hole punch tool are until you desperately need one for a homework assignment. Not every assignment is submitted entirely online, so even if your instructors don't specify the need for binders, page protectors, and other necessities, you want to stock up just in case. Go to your home office supply store and stock up on the classic basics, including:

• stapler
• hole punch
• paper clips
• subject dividers
